World Food Day 2020
Posted on October 16 2020
World Food Day began in 1979 as a day to honor the establishment of the United Nation's Food & Agriculture Organization. But as time went on the meaning behind World Food Day started to change, with more emphasis on world hunger. While it is a day to celebrate food & the many cultures it embraces, it is also a day of reflection.
Today, & everyday, we are grateful for food. We decided to make Penne Alla Vodka in honor of the day! Here is the recipe we followed:
This recipe makes two bowls of penne alla vodka.
Ingredients:
¼ cup olive oil
1 small clove of garlic, diced
¼ green onion
¼ cup tomato paste
½ cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon vodka
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
225 grams of shells pasta
1 tablespoon butter
¼ cup parmesan cheese
Basil, chopped, to serve
Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
Start off with olive oil, garlic and green onions in a pan. Cook until browned or darker in color.
Add tomato paste and cook until it is softened.
Add heavy whipping cream, mix until color turns pink. Add vodka. Cook until it is evaporated. Next, you must add in the red pepper flakes & mix in.
Put your pasta to boil & cook!
Once your pasta is done, start to add the butter & cheese into your sauce pan.
You MUST add pasta water to your sauce. Mix until it looks as thin as you aspire to be.
Put pasta & sauce in a pot & mix altogether!
Serve with a basil garnish. & ENJOY!
